Summary:

Felicia J. Slattery lives her life with energy, passion and enthusiasm because she realizes each moment is precious. During Christmas week of 2004, while just 34 weeks pregnant with her second daughter, she contracted a rare and horrifically painful pregnancy-related disease and according to doctors, came within 4 -8 hours of death. As she spent the days, weeks, and months recovering physically, mentally and emotionally from the trauma, she realized her life – and all our lives — are a gift. After more than a year of healing and soul-searching, she decided to put her communication and public speaking talents to use to create a positive impact on the world. As a Mom she wanted a professional career she could run at home to be with her two “angel babies.” Her coaching and consulting business was born in 2006.

During her first two years she built a thriving and growing business. Mid-way through 2008 and into 2009, Felicia J. Slattery spent time focusing her efforts on the marketing field. In her first year of exploding onto the marketing scene, she appeared on stages across the US and Canada, as the MC for multiple JVAlert Live events, and the Impact Event, all hosted by Ken McArthur, as well as has been a featured speaker at popular events such as Ross Goldberg’s Virtual and Last Master’s Seminars, Willie Crawford’s Birthday Bash, and Terry Wygal’s Blueprint to Financial Freedom.

Felicia has shared the stage with many notable names in the Internet marketing arena including: Carrie “Barefoot Executive” Wilkerson, Kevin Nations, Adam Urbanski, Bob “The Teacher” Jenkins, John DiLemme, Bob Burg, Joel Comm, Perry “Ask Mr. Video” Lawrence, Paul Evans, Melanie Benson Strick, Lynn Terry, Frank Sousa, Dave Lakhani, Brendon Burchard, Simon Leung, Mari Smith, and many (many!) others.

Most notably, in April 2010 at Extreme Business Makeovers, she had the honor of sharing the stage with a living legend of motivational speaking, Mr. Zig Ziglar himself.

Corporate clients and audiences have included a who’s who of top US companies as well as local organizations including:

  • Kohler
  • Kraft
  • Wm. Wrigley, Jr.
  • Service Master

Main Questions Asked:

  • Can you explain what the acronym REAL Relationships means and why it is so important?
  • Can we incorporate those elements in our emails and other areas of our online marketing?
  • What are we doing wrong?
  • With technology, are there creative ways that we can use it to help build relationships?

Key Lessons Learned:

REALationships

  • There are actually two different acronyms. One relates to what you do, and the other to how you feel. What you DO when you’re in a REAL relationship with someone is; Respect them, Engage with them, Affirm them, and Laugh with them. How you should FEEL is Recognized, Energized, Accepted, and Loved.
  • People aren’t perfect. So unless you aren’t human you don’t need to be either. People will relate to your imperfections.
  • When people are engaged and having fun they tend to remember those moments better. If you want someone to remember you, give them a reason to. Start by making them laugh and smile.
  • Be respectful of other people’s opinion or beliefs. When making a statement or voicing your opinion be mindful that you aren’t insulting anyone in the process.
  • Instead of just plainly congratulating someone, make it personal. Take the time to make a quick video or tell them something you remember doing with them, or like about them or what they do.

Marketing

  • Remember that you are trying to engage with people. Treat them as such and not just potential income.
  • When trying to engage with people and recommend products or services, think about how you would speak to a close friend or a relative and approach communicating from that perspective.
  • Don’t push your products or services on people, but at the same time put yourself out there in a respectful way. If people don’t know what you do or what you can offer, they can’t hire or buy from you and you could be missing out on potential clients and income.

Social Media

  • Avoid the trap of posts that force people to copy/paste/share things. The underlying cause may not seem like a bad thing but nobody wants to be forced to do things. Especially if they make people feel guilty if they don’t.
  • Build your tribe before you need them. There will come a time in life when you need people.

Final Tips

  • Any and every relationship needs respect to grow.
  • Never underestimate the potential of one person. That one person could be a doorway to many other potential relationships.
  • You never know who is reading what you post. Be careful not to insult people.
  • People love to be treated like you care about them and not just what they can do for you.
